Sylvester Meyer's life lived at 14th & I in Arcata since 1878. He owned the Jolly Giant Mill for 12 yrs. He was one of the six men who formed the Arcata land and Improvement company which reclaimed the marsh lands from the A.M.R.R. tracks west to Mad River Slough. He will be 82 on Oct. 14th, 1928.
