Text: Nearly $19M are being spent on construction of 101 this summer. 47 miles are involved. The projects include: the freeway bypass around Fortuna ( Alton to north of Fortuna); Myers to Sylvandale including new bridge over the Eel. 7.5 miles; a new bridge over the Eel 3 miles south of Scotia (Stafford ?); from just south of Loleta to 3.7 miles north to a point just south of Fields Landing ; final surfacing of the new 3.75 mile freeway from Little River to just 0.7 miles north of Trinidad. This section should be opened in October. ; on July 8th work began on clearing & grading of the north approach to the projected 1,835' feet tunnel through Oregon Mtn. The tunnel will cast about $3.92 M. The south approach will be 3.8 miles long.
