Text: The DPW, C. Shaller, told the B.O.S. that a new state building code was adopted by the state legislature. Humboldt County does not have one for single family houses. Rural county residents don't want one and the Grange has fought it. The Riley Act gave counties permission to issue building permits for commercial buildings, but only for earthquake safety. Large counties in CA have had a UBC for 25 yrs.
