Text: The Citizen's Water Committee of Eureka adopted a new alt. water supply project on the Mad River. Its est. cost = $1,200,000. This project will apply for 30% federal funding at $300,000 & the balance to be secured from federal funds payable to the gov. by a bond issue at 4% interest as a lien against the earning of the project rather than against the property in the district. The project calls for a dam on Mad River at Canyon Creek - height to be 184 feet. One 9' foot tunnel would be construction down Dry creek to Arcata & thence over the old county road to Eureka.
