Text: Arcata had a population of 3,720 in 1950 and 1,855 in 1940. Pg.3 Article on Mckinley Statue. Haig Patigian died 9-19-1950 at age 74. In 1905 George Zehndner commissioned Haig to design & erect the statue for $1,500. It was completed in 1906, damaged in the 1906 earthquake & had to be refinished. It was brought to Arcata on the steamship Pomona & dedicated in 1909.
