Text: In the Oct. 10, 1871, the reporters account is reproduced by Susie Baker Fountain in her column in the 5/5/1966 Blue Lake Advocate. She states there are only two hydraulic mines, both not in operation ( probably no water avail. in Sept/Oct. He est. there are 30 other types of mines over a distance of 60 miles from Orleans Bar to Klamath Bluffs, a small trading post 20 miles up from the mouth of the Klamath. He says there plenty of Chinamen around Sawyers Bar & down to Big Bar, but none 33 miles above Klamath Bluff to the coast.
