Reps of the State Wildlife Conservation Board approved proposed projects of developing Big Lagoon, Stone Lagoon, and Mad River Lagoon into public recreational sites with funds from a $9M parimotoal- gained state fund. $8,000 was allocated for purchase of a piece of the South Spit (Table Bluff County Park ??) or (Eel River Wildlife Area ?). Prof. John Lewis said these spots would not be state parks but would be governed by the State Fish and Game Division. The project sites were recommended by the Northern Humboldt Fish & Game Club in Arcata. Letters of support should be sent to the WCB, State Building, Sacramento.
