For some months past there has been a very active inquiry among businessmen for gov. redwood timber land, and many have availed themselves of the Timber Law of 1878, which allows any citizen to buy 160 acres of timber land with the necessity of living upon it, as is imperative in the case of either pre-emption or homestead." The main reason for the boom is the demand for Redwood in the east. Which commenced with the last fair in New Orleans.
