John Scott arrived in town with 700 head of sheep from the Mattole. He said most ranches are selling their cattle and buying sheep, the letter being the most profitable. Most of sheep ranches lost 1/3rd of their stock last winter due to the heavy and continuous rains. He also said many of the ranches were overstock.
