Text: Sherwood Forest Motel Cabins in Garberville. The Brisbin family through hard work were able to develop this unimproved property by hard work. The property was sold to Mr. & Mrs. Howard Olsen. Brisben is Mr. Olsen's father - in - law. The Olsen's came to Garberville 7 yrs ago at the suggestion of Brisben, who was then operating a garage & service station adject to the property which was to become the Sherwood Forest Motel and trailer court. Thus Olsen began to develop the trailer court, starting first to build a road over the gully which separated the property from the highway. The road building was done with a cat & earth mover, created by the ingenuity of Lee Brisbin ( son of Mr. Brisbon). Five trailers rented space there that first winter of 1946 - 1947. In the spring Olsen began to build the first of the motel units.
