Text: Speegle's Column. He noted the celebration in 1914 on Trinidad Head when the clubwomen of the state erected and dedicated a granite cross on the same spot as the wooden cross that was planted by the Spanish explorer. Trinidad was once the county seat of Klamath Co. In 1854 the legisli moved the co, seat to Crescent City. This didn't sit well with the residents so the legislature in 1865 moved it to Orleans Bar. It remained until Klam. Co. was dissolved and portions of it were allotted to Hum, Siskiyou and Del Norte.
