Text
In 1883 the Korbel bros. had just completed purchase of great timber holdings on the North Fork Mad from Yocum and his association. The railroad needed to be extended to Korbel. The best place to cross the Mad was at Skedaddle Murphy's place upstream a short distance from Warren Creek. The 495' feet long crossing required 3 spans and construction of the 6 miles of railroad to Korbel was done by 100 men (1/2 were Chinese).
