Text: The mail carrier, when riding his horse from Burnt Ranch to Junction City, had to ford through water up to the stirrups in several places due to the Trinity River flowing in flood stage. The surveyors surveying a route for a wagon road near Burnt Ranch were delayed by the heavy rain. They are now near the big slide.
