Text: The traveling public are gratified that the State highway Commission has decided to build the "shortcut" between Eureka and Arcata on the RW Highway. The Highway will enter Arcata at the foot of G st, pass up G to 11th, turn west at the new presbyterian church and go to the United Creameries and Jones Creek school house on up the coast. The crossing at Mad River is a short distance below the bridge now in use, the sharp turn onto that structure makes the present site unavailable. It is understood the dredger will be at work around the edge of the bay this fall and the dirt thrown up will be well settled by spring when concreting will be done.
