Text: The Union Company claimed a mile & a half of waterfront near Eureka to a depth of half mile south from the bay, over 2 weeks before the arrival of the Mendocino Company. ( Henry Wetherbee was with the Mendocino Company which arrived May 10, 1850, aboard the little Baltimore pilot boat, the Eclipse. They took up claims south of the 3 claims of the Union Company members.)
