Gib Hunter and Hern Folond said the whaling operation at Fields Landing might start up again. The earlier one stopped on Sept. 1 1949, when the rendering plant burned down, on est. $50,000 loss. At the time of the fire, 46 whales had been landed by the two whalers. The plant was operating some time before WWII.
