The nearly ranches tend to raise sheep. They are owned by: Leonard Robertson (10,000 acres), Guy Satterlee & Col Stewart (10,000 acres). Fred Hurlbutt (18,000 acres). There are 270 students in the eight grades of the school of which only 80 live in Garberville. The airport has a 3000' feet runway. Local paper is the RW Record owned & run by C. Earl Miller for the past 9 yrs.
