(See copy shots by DT). At the Clam Beach Inn is owned by the Bathursts. They also own the store, tavern and a 10 cabin motor court (across the highway). They dammed up Strawberry creek to create a small pond. Elmer (Akie) Acon & his wife ran the Inn 20 yrs ago, Akie says the beavers were brought up here in 1915 by Len Hammond and Herman Heitman of Crannell. They released 5 of them on Little River at Camp 20. Akie says Clam Beach county park was purchased in 1925; the Inn was built in 1927 & he & his wife took over in 1929. He promoted friends to lease sites on the hill from the County & build cabins. He put in the dam on Strawberry Creek to create the trout pool next to the Inn. THen in 1941 he sold out to the Charles Taylor & Sidney Webster- who in turn sold to the Bothursts, 5 years later.
