Work will begin this fall on the Sandy Prairie Levee Project. Est. cost ~ $1,101,000. This levee is designed to halt erosion that has eaten away 1/4 mile of land. The county will provide the R/W and $245,523 of the est. cost will come from local participation. Caltrans will contribute $150,000, Fortuan Sawmill $20,000 , $600 for Fortuna City. The COE will cover the rest.
