Fall 2025: Engagement

Creative programming with children at the Arcata Elementary After School Program. Volunteers make weekly visits on "Fun Fridays" to supplement art, recreation, and theatre activities for students. Activities are designed with age and developmental stages in mind. 

Site Visit Schedule:

  • Friday, 3:30-5:00 (this includes travel time)

Program Mission

A.R.T. Volunteers provide opportunities for local youth to express themselves through the arts, including, but not limited to, visual art, theatre and music. A.R.T. volunteers provide creative outlets through weekly services at local schools in Humboldt County.

Donations Accepted

Donations of new or used art supplies would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail A.R.T at: art@humboldt.edu to let us know what materials you would like to donate, or if you have any questions.

ART Donation List

Please note that while ART greatly appreciates any donation you can give, keep in mind that we will be using these supplies with children so please try to donate appropriately. Please no toxic or hazardous materials.

Smocks (old large shirts, aprons, etc)

Scissors (especially kid's scissors)

Paper (construction paper is preferred) 

Markers (washable, non-toxic preferred)

Crayons

Pencils (colored, regular)

Erasers Glue (child-safe glue, glitter glue, glue sticks, etc)

Tape (scotch, masking, duct, etc)

Popsicle sticks

Pipe cleaners

Small brown paper bags

Paper plates

Puffballs

Yarn

Wrapping paper

Paint brushes

Paint (non-toxic, water based preferred)

Old calendars, newspapers, magazines

Rubber bands

Clear page protectors (the type that fits into a 3-ring binder)
