October 19, 2025

Good morning and happy Monday. We have quite a busy week ahead with a number of exciting events and activities keeping our campus community engaged. Some of those include:

Earth Week: April 21-26, 2025

Check out the weeklong events here at hum.link/earth or below. Click here for the week's flyer. Humboldt students demonstrate and participate in sustainability efforts year-round, which shows their commitment to making Earth Week Every Week. One great example of this is through continuing this commitment into life after graduation, via the Graduation Pledge. Furthermore, students consistently plan events and activities, collaborate across campus, and make a daily habit of environmental responsibility and allyship, among other methods. During the official time of Earth Week every April, students utilize this platform to reconvene and further affirm these values.

Global Awareness & Student Activism Week: April 22–30, 2025

This is a faculty-led annual event dedicated to honoring student activism, reflecting on past movements, and building a future rooted in justice and collective action. The theme this year, “Reflection, Lessons Learned, Healing, and Trust Building”, acknowledges that activism is not just about resisting but also about caring for one another, strengthening relationships, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of movements. There will be workshops, art exhibits, teach-ins, film screenings, walks, a potluck, and much more. For more information, click on Global Awareness & Student Activism Week or email the organizers at gasa@humboldt.edu.

Humboldt International Film Festival (HIFF) April 24-27, 2025

The Humboldt International Film Festival (HIFF) is back for its 58th year, promising a spectacular showcase of independent short films from around the globe. The festival is the longest-running student-run film festival in the world. This event is free and open to all. For more information, click here.

AI & Sustainability Panel + Discussion Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 3:00-4:30 pm

Do AI’s negative impacts on the environment and society outweigh its utility? Or is there a way to generate and use AI in a more responsible and less harmful way? What is our institution’s responsibility? Join us for this timely discussion in the Founders Hall Green & Gold Room. See the attached flyer for details and contact Morgan King for more information.
