April 24, 2026

Dear Colleagues,

With only 16 days until the WSCUC Accreditation Review Team arrives on our campus, we are entering an important and energizing moment for Cal Poly Humboldt.

The Review Team will be on campus Wednesday through Friday, April 15-17, 2026 to learn more about our progress, priorities, opportunities for improvement, and our vision as a polytechnic university. Open forums have been organized for student, faculty, and staff, respectively, scheduled as follows:

  • Staff Open Forum: Thursday, April 16, 8:15–9:00 am, Great Hall (light refreshments provided)

  • Student Open Forum: Thursday, April 16, 12:40–1:45 pm, Native Forum, Behavioral & Social Sciences 162 (lunch provided)

  • Faculty Open Forum: Thursday, April 16, 2:00–2:45 pm, Great Hall (light refreshments provided)

We strongly encourage you to participate in these open forums. They are an important opportunity for you to share your experiences, perspectives, and aspirations for Humboldt. WSCUC values both candor and a clear sense of institutional commitment. Our ability to reflect honestly, while demonstrating our shared dedication to continuous improvement, helps ensure that their recommendations are meaningful and responsive to our community’s needs.

You may also submit confidential written feedback directly to the Review Team at: humboldt@wscuc.org.

At the conclusion of the visit, we invite you to attend the All-Campus Exit Meeting on Friday, April 17, 2026, beginning at 9:45 am for refreshments in the Kate Buchanan Room (SAC 225). The Review Team will provide their observations, commendations, and recommendations at 10:15 am, offering an early reflection on how our work is being recognized and where we are being called to continue growing.

Following the visit, the WSCUC Commission will issue its final report and determine the length of our accreditation reaffirmation. More importantly, this process helps shape the next chapter of our institutional journey.

As we approach this milestone, I invite you to also take part in the “Rooted & Rising Together” Door and Bulletin Board Decorating Contest—a celebration of the creativity, pride, and spirit that define our campus community. Additional details and submission information are available on the contest webpage, linked here: Accreditation Door Decorating Contest. Winners to be announced on April 13, 2026.

Thank you for all that you do to make Cal Poly Humboldt such a vibrant, thoughtful, and committed community. I look forward to coming together in the days ahead to share our story and continue building our future.

Sincerely,

Shawna Young
