Call for Fall 2025 Faculty and Staff Commencement Volunteers

I am so proud of the continued robust engagement in Commencement by Academic Affairs. Over the last year in particular I have heard comments by families, campus, and system leadership about how well attended our Commencement ceremonies are by our faculty and staff – walking, working, and watching the event. Your contributions to commencement make it so memorable for our graduates and their families. As planning begins for Cal Poly Humboldt's Fall 2025 Commencement ceremony, which will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025 in the Lumberjack Arena, I again need your help. National Transfer Student Week is Almost Here!

Next week, October 20 - 24, 2025 is National Transfer Student Week and we will celebrate and support our growing transfer student community. This year’s theme, Same Roots, New Growth, honors the resilience and journey of our transfer students as they branch out and thrive at Cal Poly Humboldt. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend any of the fourteen activities offered, all of which are focused on supporting transfer students. You are also invited to recognize your amazing colleagues by nominating a Transfer Champion – someone on campus who supports and encourages transfer students either within their classroom or at work. These champions help our transfer students succeed, foster a sense of belonging, and go above and beyond to support and advocate for our transfer students. Sponsored Programs Foundation Fall 2025 Grant Workshop Series

Sponsored Programs Foundation’s Fall 2025 Grant Workshop Series will offer six Monday morning sessions between October 27th and December 8th, 2025. The series is open to Cal Poly Humboldt faculty and staff with supervisor approval and is best for those new to grants (having a project in mind helps). Sessions mix short lectures, small-group work, and guest speakers. Participants are asked to attend all sessions, and complete a Canvas preparation after registration. Expect 30–60 minutes of preparation time between meetings. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of competitive proposals, at least one identified funding opportunity, and drafts of your project abstract, work plan, and budget.
