October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Empowering You to Secure 2025 and Beyond.

Each October, we come together as a community to strengthen our online practices and guard against digital threats. This month-long initiative encourages individuals and organizations to enhance their cybersecurity skills and awareness. This year’s theme, Empowering You to Secure 2025 and Beyond, highlights simple, everyday actions you can take to protect your accounts, safeguard your devices and data, recognize phishing attempts, and manage your digital footprint.

Information Technology Services (ITS) has curated a series of engaging activities, weekly challenges, and presentations with opportunities to win prizes. Whether you’re a student, faculty, or staff member, we invite you to participate and strengthen your cybersecurity knowledge. By joining in, you’re not only protecting your own digital assets—you’re contributing to the security of our entire campus community. To learn more and to register for any of the many webinars and events, visit the following link: Cybersecurity Awareness Month Resources.

Advancing Humboldt’s International Partnerships with Oaxaca

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) and the division of Academic Affairs has taken significant steps to renew and expand Cal Poly Humboldt’s global engagement. Key among these efforts is the reaffirmed collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca (UABJO), continuing a 25+ year relationship that supports educational exchanges and joint initiatives. It was wonderful to welcome a delegation of students and faculty from Oaxaca onto campus this past Friday.

Equity Arcata, the Cal Poly Humboldt and City of Arcata collaboration, is also facilitating a sister city project between Arcata and Oaxaca, with delegations and exchanges planned between students, faculty, and municipal leaders. Additionally, ODEI is co-developing a culturally immersive professional development program for Eureka City School District educators to experience firsthand the culturally sustaining practices of Oaxaca’s public education system - a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region.

Have an awesome Monday.
