Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are all staying warm, dry, and especially safe during this week of wild winter weather.
In the coming day or two, you will receive an official announcement inviting our campus to engage in an important milestone in Cal Poly Humboldt’s continued accreditation journey: The Accreditation Site Visit Launch event, planned for Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 11:30 am to 1 pm. We invite all faculty and staff to gather for this campus-wide event to build shared understanding and enthusiasm for our upcoming WSCUC Accreditation site visit in mid-April. The site visit is a required and meaningful step in sustaining our institutional accreditation.
The theme for this visit — Rooted & Rising Together — reflects both who we are as an institution and who we aspire to be. We are deeply rooted in place, community, and shared purpose, while continually rising through innovation, reflection, and collective accountability. Accreditation is not simply a compliance process; it is an opportunity to tell our story, demonstrate our impact, and strengthen our commitments to student success and institutional excellence.
Behind the scenes, extensive planning is underway. We are coordinating the logistical needs of the seven-member WSCUC review team and organizing preparatory conversations and site visit meetings with more than 20 campus groups. During the visit, all students, faculty, and staff will be invited to participate in open forums with the review team. Details about the open forums will be shared with you in the coming weeks.
For now, please hold Wednesday, March 4th, 11:30 am to 1 pm on your calendar and plan to join colleagues from across the university as we launch the next phase of this important campus-wide effort together.
Sincerely,
Shawna Young
