Misha Burke
Journalism, 2014
Misha Burke, 2014 Journalism, currently works at the California Association of Health Facilities as a Marketing & Communications Specialist—a job that took a year and a half to find. Burke has been able to take what she learned from in her Journalism and Graphic Design courses and apply them to this job. If it wasn't for HSU's Journalism and Art departments (faculty and students), Burke says she wouldn't be as successful as she is now.

Sophia Remer

Sophia Remer, International Studies, 2014, went onto culinary school in Sonoma County after graduating from HSU and worked as a professional baker. She has recently moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her partner (also a Humboldt graduate) who is getting his Ph.D. in Pollination Biology. Sophia is pursuing a dual degree Masters of Arts in Food Studies with an MBA program from Chatham University to combine her backgrounds in food and cultural studies.

Sophia Remer, International Studies, 2014, went on to culinary school in Sonoma County after graduating from HSU and worked as a professional baker. She has recently moved to Pittsburgh, PA with her partner (also a Humboldt graduate) who is getting his phD in Pollination Biology. Remer is applying to the Master of Arts in Food Studies with an MBA dual degree program from Chatham University to combine her backgrounds in food and cultural studies.

Sean Berry, Native American Studies, 2014, is a Legal Administrative Specialist for the Northern California Agency of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Stephanie Cowherd
EnglishLiterature, MA, 2014
Stephanie Cowherd, English, 2014, works for Ecotrust, an environmental non-profit based in Portland, Oregon. She leads community outreach and engagement, communications, and manages tribal forestry projects for her Forests & Ecosystem Services team at Ecotrust. Her current projects include a landscape assessment of opportunities and barriers in tribal forestry workforce development, working alongside native educators to design culturally-specific curriculum for forestry education tools, and community engagement with tribal forestry activities.
Jocelyn Keranen
Geography, 2013
Jocelyn Keranen, 2013 Geography, served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania, where she worked on agriculture and gender empowerment projects in a small village near the Great Rift Valley and Masai Steppe. After two years living in a village she added another year onto her service. Currently, Keranen is serving in Dar es Salaam as the National Malaria Coordinator. After my service, she plans on pursuing a Master’s of Public Health in Global Health
Annathea Cook

Annathea Cook, 2013 International Studies, earned her master's degree in International Trade Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) and have recently begun a career as an International Trade Compliance Analyst with the International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce. Cook writes, “It's a strange time to move to DC, but it's exciting to be working on such a hot topic that I'm passionate about. Everyday I'm using skills that I learned at HSU, particularly negotiation skills that I learned as a preschool teacher with the HSU Children's Center. Can't wait to visit my hometown of Arcata again soon. Stay weird Humboldt.”
Deborah Wynn (Graaff)
International Studies, 2013
Deborah Wynn (Graaff), 2013 International Studies, got married and started medical school with her partner. She is currently in her third year and is preparing for the first step of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam before starting clinical rotations.
Annathea Cook

Annathea Cook, 2013 International Studies, is pursuing her Masters in International Policy Studies, with a focus on U.S.-Chinese Trade Policy, at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, Calif. After an internship this summer with the Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, Cook is looking forward to her last year at MIIS, her upcoming internship in China next summer, and jumping into the job market next August.
