Stephanie Cowherd

EnglishLiterature, MA, 2014

Stephanie Cowherd, English, 2014, works for Ecotrust, an environmental non-profit based in Portland, Oregon. She leads community outreach and engagement, communications, and manages tribal forestry projects for her Forests & Ecosystem Services team at Ecotrust. Her current projects include a landscape assessment of opportunities and barriers in tribal forestry workforce development, working alongside native educators to design culturally-specific curriculum for forestry education tools, and community engagement with tribal forestry activities.

Justine Quijano

ArtLiberal studies: child development, 2014

Justine Quijano, 2014 Art, moved back to Southern California, had a child, and finally applied to grad school. Now, she is finally on her way to start her master's program. All happened a little out of order but like her sorority sisters said, she is a "Luchadora" for a reason. She is making her way back to her career goals at Marylhurst University, where she'll work toward my masters in art therapy.

Jennifer Lee Swagert

English, 2014

Since graduating in 2014, Jennifer has been living on the outskirts of Seattle, WA, participating in a variety of programs that are aimed at the studying the effect that global climate has on urban rodent populations. Additionally, Jennifer will be publishing an article titled "Magic Cards and Where to Freud Them" in the Fall 2017 issue of Knucklebones magazine.

Billy Wright

Communication, 2014

Billy Wright, 2014 Communication, is currently teaching and coaching in Kerman, Calif., at Kerman High School. Wright was recently invited to coach a high school All-American game played at the Oakland Raiders’ stadium where he will coach alongside guys who played or coached in the NFL.

Jared Birnbaum

International Studies, 2014

Jared Birnbaum, 2014 International Studies, is enrolled in a master’s program at Fresno State University. Birnbaum plans to finish with a master’s degree in Communication and Linguistics, and also be certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TEFL/TESOL).

Leticia-Andrea Snoots

English, 2014

Leticia-Andrea Snoots is currently in her final year of graduate school at the University of the Pacific. Snoots is working on a Master's of Education with a concentration of Student Affairs. Snoots adds, "I am supported in this journey by my partner of five years, James, who I met as an undergraduate at Humboldt State University! Life couldn't be better!"

Evan Blair

Politics, 2013

Evan Blair ('13, Political Science) earned an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2017. He is currently the Associate Director of Admissions at UC Davis Graduate School of Management.

Stephanie Freitas

History, 2013

Stephanie Freitas, 2013 History, is a full time history teacher at Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia, Calif. Freitas is married to HSU alumnus Salvador Cazarez, who is also teaching in the Visalia district.

Ryan Bieker

Politics, 2013

Ryan Bieker, 2013 Political Science, began working at the California Public Employee Retirement System as an associate governmental program analyst administering the affordable care act with public agencies and state departments. Bieker also provides customer education, retirement and health program counseling, and responses to customer inquiries.
