Lecturer
Dr. Geoff Ostrove is a Lecturer in the Communication Department at Cal Poly Humboldt. With a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in Communication and Media Studies, as well as a Masters in Community & Regional Planning, Dr. Ostrove’s academic research focuses on the areas of political economy, urban planning, hip hop culture, sports economics, and emerging communication technologies.
Dr. Ostrove also teaches courses in the Business of Cannabis Program at Oxnard College, including Cannabis Law and Cannabis Sales & Logistics courses. This Program helps students find careers in an emerging industry, as well as highlights important topics involving politics, public policy, and legality.
Dr. Ostrove teaches Contemporary Public Discourse and Strategic Communication courses at Pelican Bay Prison in Crescent City as part of the collaboration between Cal Poly Humboldt and Project Rebound, and he teaches the Fundamentals of Speech Communication course at the main Arcata campus.
