Sandra was recently awarded the University of Wisconsin system's P.B. Poorman Award for Outstanding Achievement on Behalf of LGBTQ+ People. She is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at UW Stevens Point - Marshfield campus.

JT Hayes, Nursing, 1994, retired from full-time nursing in 2018 but still teaches CNA classes and does p.m. shifts for Help for Health Hospice in Riverton, Wyoming where he lives with his wife, 17-year-old granddaughter and four dogs.

Dave Albert

Kinesiology, 1994

Dave Albert ('94, Physical Education) recently retired from the City of Santa Cruz after 20+ years as a police officer. He currently works part-time in various law enforcement training capacities and lives in San Jose. He and his wife of 30 years are anxiously awaiting their first grandchild in December, and are enjoying the perks of retirement: traveling, Tahoe excursions, and lots of exercise.

Dave Albert

Kinesiology, 1994

Dave recently retired after working over 20 years as a police officer in Santa Cruz. He is currently working part-time in law enforcement training in the Bay Area and otherwise spends time with his wife, three adult kids, and one (so far) grandkid. He frequents Tahoe in the summer at the lake and in the winter on the slopes, he enjoys traveling to as many different Major League Baseball stadiums as possible, and he is still best friends with his old HSU roommate!

Charlene Varney, Social Work, 1993, worked for various California State agencies, county agencies, non-profits, and tribal governments in various social services programs in support of families, disabled adults, and frail elderly. She currently lives and works in Sacramento, CA, with her eldest granddaughter.

Carol Taylor, 1993 Business & Teaching Credential, is currently Vice President of the Sonoma Valley Democrats, Vice Chair in the Senior Caucus of the California Democratic Party, a member of the Sonoma County Public Authority Advisory Board, and a former Ethics Officer for the Homecare Division of the Service Employees International Union for United Health Care Workers. Taylor was able to use her experience in accounting to help bargaining teams in Sonoma and Marin counties raise the wages of thousands of in-home support service providers.
