APT - The English Club
English majors and minors, and M.A. students are encouraged to join APT, the English Club, which is open to all students who have an interest in English Studies.
The APT club puts on multiple events every semester and meets regularly. APT is a registered club with Student Life, and new e-board members are elected annually. Some recent APT projects include: students vs. faculty trivia night, "bad movie" nights, creating community pop-up libraries, helping make welcome packages for new English students, writing groups, and National Novel Writing Month participation.
APT also serves as the Humboldt chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta International Honor Society.

Visiting Writers Series
The English department's Visiting Writers Series brings authors from around the world to Humboldt County.
Each visiting writer hosts a lecture, reading, and/or workshop, providing students and community members with the opportunity to engage with literary artists who represent a diverse range of aesthetic approaches. The Visiting Writers Series exists to broaden students’ understanding of literature as a form of cultural production. The series invites students across the disciplines to engage in conversations about a range of culturally relevant topics.
