Why did you choose this program?
As a boy growing up in Arcata I was fascinated with music and was invited to watch the symphony rehearsals directed by Charles Fulkerson. The musicians at Humboldt were always so generous toward me and were willing to coach me.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
The program provided a broad and thorough foundation in music, and later in teaching skills.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
The professors, fellow students, performances, music theory, and composition.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
Music is a gift to our lives—if you can incorporate it in your work, then you are indeed among the fortunate ones.
