Recently appointed Chair of Huemul Task Force in the Species Survival Commission of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Has served as Chair for the Scientific Steering Committee for the 6th and 7th International Deer Biology Congress (Republic of Czech and Chile, respectively) and now serving at same capacity for the upcoming 8th IDBC, which is to be held in Harbin China.

I just accepted an offer of admission into U.C. Berkeley's Asian Studies MA program, and will be focusing on China Studies during the fall of 2011. During the two-year program, I am hoping to take an extra year to study Chinese abroad in both China and Taiwan.

My sixth book, King Philip's War: Colonial Expansion, Native Resistance, and the End of Indian Sovereignty was published by Johns Hopkins University Press in fall 2010. Recently it was named an “Outstanding Academic Title for 2010” by the American Library Association’s Choice.

After graduating, I worked for six months as a research assistant on a project through Tulane University concerning the reproductive strategies of male capuchin monkeys. Although it was an amazing and life-changing experience, I came out of it knowing that I would much rather work with people than primates, and am currently seeking admission to HSU's elementary education program.

M. Scott Grabau joined the Irvine Valley College Theater Department full-time faculty this semester. His professional design credits include: ‘da Kink In My Hair [NAACP Award], Don Quixote, Aint Misbehavin, The Goat, Long Story Short, and Superior Donuts (San Diego Repertory); The Sound of Music, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Dreamgirls, Annie Get Your Gun, Me and My Girl (Moonlight Stage); Romeo y Julieta (Old Globe/CECUT); The Book of Liz, The Santaland Diaries, Pageant, Curse of the Starving Class [Pattè award], Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (Cygnet Theatre); No Way to Treat a Lady, The Smell of the Kill, Dracula [Pattè award], Back to Bacharach, The Chosen, A Thousand Clowns, and Romeo and Juliet (North Coast Repertory). He received his MFA degree from UC San Diego and has assisted on shows at South Coast Repertory, ACT in Seattle, Sacramento Music Circus and the La Jolla Playhouse. I teach Algebra I and physical science in 8th grade at Fortuna Middle School. I have coached soccer, track, and basketball and have also served as Vice Principal and Athletic Director. I received an MA in elementary education from the University of San Francisco, and an MA in educational technology leadership from The George Washington University in Washington D.C. I have just finished a doctorate re: the relationship of multiplication tables and fraction skills to learning algebra. My wife and I have two children and enjoy dancing, skiing, softball, and coaching basketball.
