With Molly Cate, Humanitarian Educator
We’ll investigate two fictional studies of bias in American life. The 1947 novel and film Gentleman’s Agreement exposed the anti-Semitism of the post-World War Two era. The 1955 play and 1960 film, Inherit the Wind, were actually critiques of the McCarthy Era through dramatizing the 1925 Scopes “Monkey” trial that prosecuted a Tennessee educator for teaching evolutionary theory.
