Stout, directing the grading by Mercer - Fraser, of the new approaches to the 4'000 feet trestle, has uncovered 12 skeletons , arrows, Indian relics , mortar & pestles. The items were buried at depths ranging from 1' - 4' feet. Stout believed this spot is a corner of a larger village. The village is on a plateau about 30' feet above the water level. The dwellings had a floor of slate & roofed over with sticks and mud. Also discovered were some holes 3' - 4' feet deep filled with shells of mussels and clams.
