December 3, 2025
Welcome back and happy Monday. I hope everyone enjoyed their fall break. It is hard to believe that in just a few more weeks we will successfully close out the Fall 2025 semester. Thank you for all that you are doing during this important push at the end of the semester. I am looking forward to celebrating our graduates with you at Commencement.
Please Save the Date for Spring Professional Development Day: Friday, January 16, 2026
Mark your calendars for Friday, January 16, 2026 from 8 am to 1 pm for a morning of insight, innovation, and inspiration at Spring Professional Development Day 2026: Sustainability – Growing a Greener Future Together. The theme of sustainability invites us to reimagine what sustainability means on our campus, in our classrooms, and in our daily work. Together, we will explore how sustainable practices can enrich teaching, streamline operations, and strengthen community well-being. From nature inspired design to cultivating sustainable mindsets in our students, the sessions will spotlight innovative ideas, share local successes, and inspire collective action toward a more resilient future.
Join your faculty and staff colleagues for keynote sessions, collaborative workshops, and conversations that connect sustainability with every aspect of our professional mission. A full agenda and registration details are coming soon. I hope to see you there!
Well Done: Integrated Curriculum Committee, Friends and Colleagues
I want to take a moment to acknowledge Sara Sterner (ICC Chair), Renee Byrd, Joice Chang, Cameron Govier, Sara Hart, Bori Mazzag, Justus Ortega, Heather Madar and the countless others that have worked tirelessly and collaboratively to usher curriculum through critical shared governance processes.
Incentives Program for Faculty Research Grant Development
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is excited to announce the launch of the Faculty Research Incentive Award Program! The program provides assigned time funding for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters, or summer salary for summer 2026 to support faculty in developing full proposals for external funding. Awardees collaborate with a Pre-Award Specialist and must submit a proposal within 12 months. Each cohort will meet periodically for updates, discussion of process, sharing of best practices, peer support and peer review activities. Successful applications will clearly demonstrate an understanding and support of Cal Poly Humboldt’s purpose, goals and objectives.
Applications are due by Monday, January 26, 2026 at 11:59 pm. For more details and to download the full call for proposals, please visit the Incentives Program competition page which can be accessed through the Faculty Research Incentive Award Program here or contact Cara Peters at cap924@humboldt.edu or Kumi Nakadate at jkn24@humboldt.edu
Have a wonderful Monday.
Sincerely,
Jenn Capps
