March 23, 2026
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you to everyone who attended last Wednesday’s events hosted by the Provost’s Office! The WSCUC Accreditation Site Visit Preparation Launch Event was a full house, filled with engaged and enthusiastic participants, and we’re excited to build on that energy as the accreditation Review Team visits our campus April 15–17, 2026 to meet with a wide range of constituent groups. Please keep an eye out for campus communications inviting you to open forums. This is an important opportunity for our university community to share about what’s working well, opportunities for growth and improvement, and how you feel about the trajectory of Cal Poly Humboldt; every voice truly matters in this process.
We also extend our appreciation to all who gathered for the Distinguished Faculty Lecture with Dr. Dale Oliver. The evening was a wonderful celebration of the many ways that Dale has served throughout his professional career. It was an inspiring occasion.
Native American Studies Faculty Book Circle: Registration Due by March 23, 3036
Are you interested in ethically integrating Indigenous knowledge into your curriculum, but aren’t sure where to start? Join the Native American Studies faculty in a book circle that engages with texts by Indigenous scholars and discuss how to incorporate Indigenous knowledge and praxis into our work in ethical and sustainable ways. This spring, we will be reading A Feather and a Fork: 125 Intertribal Dishes from an Indigenous Food Warrior by Chef Crystal Wahpepah. This semester’s book circle will be held weekly on Fridays from March 27 through April 24, 2026, 8 am - 9:30 am on Zoom.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the book circle registration form, linked here: Spring 2026 Book Circle Registration Form by March 23, 2026.
Accessibility Faculty Fellowship Program: Applications Now Open
The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) is seeking applicants for an Accessibility Faculty Fellow for the 2026/27 academic year. The Accessibility Faculty Fellows Program supports Cal Poly Humboldt’s commitment to equitable and inclusive learning by advancing accessible course materials and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) practices. Accessibility Faculty Fellows engage deeply in the personal and pedagogical work of applying universal design principles because they believe all students deserve equal access to learning. Fellows also serve as mentors and leaders, helping to guide, train, and support colleagues in incorporating accessibility and UDL across their courses.
Applications for the CAHSS Accessibility Faculty Fellowship are due Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Faculty interested in helping to strengthen inclusive teaching practices across the college are encouraged to apply. Please see this link for additional information: Humboldt Faculty Fellows Program - Accessibility - CAHSS opening
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Shawna Young
