Nicolette Amann, English Department Faculty and Redwood Writing Project Director, and Jessica Citti, Writing Specialist and Writing Studio Coordinator in the Learning Center, co-led a session called When Outsourcing Writing is Outsourcing Learning: The Impact of GenAI on Writing Development at the Humboldt County Office of Education Day of Learning on October 27, 2025. This AI-themed professional development conference was attended by over 150 Humboldt County K–12 teachers, instructional staff, and administrators.

10th Annual Zero Waste Conference is This Week: November 3-7, 2025

The Waste Reduction and Resource Awareness Program (WRRAP) invites you to join them for the Zero Waste Conference for a week of activities, workshops and events to inform, educate and inspire waste minimization! WRRAP’s purpose is to bridge awareness through outreach and education, encouraging our campus community to participate in a lifestyle that reflects helping the earth, not hurting it. This year’s conference features 21 events - all of which are free and open to students, faculty and staff. Check out the conference program at this link: Zero Waste Week Events

Reese Bullen Gallery Exhibition Opening: Thursday, November 6th, 2025

Join us on Thursday November 6th, from 4pm-6pm at the Reese Bullen Gallery for Gather Hold Ground: Lucha Por Communidad, featuring Lilia Hernandez Galusha & guests from Portland, Oregon. The exhibition focuses on community and the ways we come together, and features a zine library, textile works, prints, and more. Lilia was previously an artist in residence at Humboldt in spring 2024, funded by the John S. and Lona B. Edwards Artist-in-Residence fund. Reese Bullen Gallery is located in Art B, Room 101, across from the Van Duzer Theater. Refreshments will be served.

Conferral of Emeritus Status

I am pleased to announce that last month at a regular meeting of the University Senate, the Cal Poly Humboldt University Senate unanimously approved the conferral of Emeritus Status to the distinguished faculty, staff, and administrators listed below.
