American Indian College Motivation Day is Tomorrow, Thursday, November 6, 2025
For over 50 years, Cal Poly Humboldt has hosted American Indian College Motivation Day (AICMD). This event, which is held on the first Thursday in November, focuses on preparing high school students for what to look for and expect in college, creating a sense of belonging and cultural relevancy, and connecting students to their support team at Humboldt. AICMD is organized in partnership by the Office of Admissions, Indian Tribal & Educational Personnel Program (ITEPP), Indian Natural Resource Science & Engineering Program (INRSEP), and the Office of the President. High school students will be visiting campus from 9 am to 3 pm, taking part in a variety of activities in several campus buildings throughout the day. Please welcome our guests. We are so excited that they are visiting with us.

Reminder: Honorary Degree Nominations Due Wednesday November 12, 2025
As a reminder, I am inviting your nominations for honorary degrees to be conferred either at the Spring 2026 Commencement ceremonies or at another appropriate time. Nominations are due to the committee by Wednesday, November 12, 2025.* For more information about the selection of recipients of honorary degrees may be found in The California State University Board of Trustees Policy for Awarding Honorary Degrees and the Cal Poly Humboldt Policy related to honorary degrees. Please note that the process is confidential, and nominators may not contact a prospective nominee to discuss a possible nomination. Nominations need to include: the full name of the nominee, two nomination letters, a brief summary of reasons the degree is deserved, a curriculum vitae or comparable biographical information, and a brief description of the relationship, if any, the nominee has with Cal Poly Humboldt.
Please email nominations and supporting documents to the Provost’s Office using the following email address: OAAVP@humboldt.edu. Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.
*Please note that in the original campus communication we inadvertently gave two dates for this deadline: November 10th and November 12, 2025. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, November 12, 2025. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused.
