October 19, 2025

Good morning and happy Wednesday. I am beyond thrilled to share that Cal Poly Humboldt was awarded the Seal of Excelencia yesterday in Washington D.C. It was my honor to be there alongside President Spagna, and Associate Vice President & Campus Diversity Officer Rosamel Benavides-Garb to accept this honor on behalf of the university. The Seal of Excelencia represents recognition of evidenced based work we have collectively accomplished to advance the success of our students. Please join me in celebrating this tomorrow, Thursday, October 2, 2025 between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the Great Hall. Well done!

Call for Applications: Graduate Studies Faculty Fellow

Academic Programs invites applications for a one-semester Graduate Studies Faculty Fellow for Spring 2026. The Fellow will help operationalize the 2024–2030 Graduate Studies Strategic Plan, working with the Interim Dean and Graduate Council to design and advance data-informed strategies for graduate recruitment, funding, and professional development. This call is open to Cal Poly Humboldt faculty in any discipline with graduate program experience. Preference will be given to former graduate coordinators or graduate faculty in one of the university’s thirteen graduate programs. The incumbent will receive compensation of 6 WTUs. Apply with a one-page interest letter and brief CV to OAAVP@humboldt.edu by Monday, October 20, 2025. For more information contact Heather Madar, Interim AVP for Academic Programs and Interim Dean of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies, at hm28@humboldt.edu.

Advising Hub Update

The new Advising Hub is planned to launch at the start of Spring 2026. A pilot will be taking place later this fall with a small group of faculty and staff advisors.

Here’s what you can look forward to when the Advising Hub launches this spring:

  • Access to your full roster of advisees.

  • The ability to create and share advising notes, with an option for private notes.

  • Visibility into student holds, with functionality to lift or postpone certain holds.

  • The ability to sort and filter your roster by a variety of student characteristics.

  • Quick access to units enrolled, GPA, and student class schedules.

More information as well as opportunities for faculty and staff training will be announced prior to the launch.

Well Done
