State of the Nonprofit Sector

On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Northern California Association of Nonprofits (NorCAN) held "The State of the Nonprofit Sector" public forum in Eureka, CA. The forum included a panel discussion with nonprofit leaders addressing the findings from a recently released survey of nonprofit organizations serving Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity Counties, “Federal Shifts and Local Impacts, Part II: Realities and Expectations for Rural Nonprofits”.

There are over 700 nonprofits in the tri-county region of Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity. Cal Poly Humboldt students serve their local communities, earn course credit, volunteer, receive services, and find jobs at many of these organizations.
