Graduation is a major milestone, and Commencement celebrations are just around the corner! 

Not only are we celebrating graduates in the Commencement ceremonies, additional celebrations and receptions are also being offered. 

We encourage graduates and guests to review the details carefully below and contact the host directly for participation or with any questions.

Q Graduation Celebration

Queer Graduation (Q Grad) invites LGBTQIA+ community and co-conspirators to cheer, celebrate, and honor our fabulous students as they move on to their next exciting chapters. We commemorate in solidarity and gratitude with the communities that support our journey at Cal Poly Humboldt and beyond. 

This celebration is voluntary and is open to all graduating students who would like to participate, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.

Native Graduation Celebration

The Native Graduation Celebration honors our Native American graduates in a meaningful and culturally centered ceremony. This intimate gathering of peers, colleagues, friends, and family recognizes the achievements and resilience of our graduates, celebrating the shared lived experiences, traditions, and cultural connections that unite them.

This celebration is voluntary and is open to all graduating students who would like to participate, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.

Black Graduation Celebration

The Black Graduation Celebration is an annual tradition where campus community, family, friends, and loved ones gather to celebrate and honor the academic achievements of our rich, diverse population of Black students. During this event, Black graduates have an opportunity to share this special moment together and reflect on their journey at Cal Poly Humboldt. The Black Graduation Celebration goes beyond a traditional Commencement, in the sense that we aim to center the resilience and triumph of our Black students, as we look to the future with hope of all that they may have their sights set on to accomplish. 

This celebration is voluntary and is open to all graduating students who would like to participate, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.

The Asian, Desi, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, and North African (ADPI+MENA) Cultural Graduation Celebration is a special gathering to honor the achievements, resilience, and cultural heritage of our graduates. This intimate event brings together peers, faculty, family, and friends to celebrate the incredible journey our graduates have taken at Cal Poly Humboldt. It is a time to recognize their hard work, reflect on their growth, and express gratitude to those who have supported them along the way. The ADPI+MENA Cultural Graduation Celebration is more than just a ceremony; it is a space to embrace and uplift the rich traditions and diverse experiences that shape our community. 

This celebration is voluntary and is open to all graduating students who would like to participate, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.

Department Receptions

Many academic departments and programs will be hosting receptions to continue to celebrate their graduates at Commencement. These gatherings provide graduates, families, and guests a more intimate opportunity to celebrate with faculty, staff, and fellow students. 

Unless otherwise noted, department receptions will take place following each major's main Commencement ceremony. Details, including location, time, and any special instructions, are listed below. Please note that reception information is self-reported by each department or program and will continue to be updated as plans are finalized.
