Katie (Mallett) Krier

Nursing, 1974

Katie (Mallett) Krier, 1974 Nursing, retired from a career in woman’s health nursing. Krier worked in labor and delivery, in Santa Barbara County obstetrics and family planning clinics, and in the public health sector doing disease control. Since retiring, Krier has been enjoying traveling, sailing and gardening. She would love to hear from friends from Humboldt.

Jay Earl Peterson

Psychology, 1972

Jay Peterson has been retired for twenty years now and is loving it. He spends most of his time reading and hopes to get more active again once his hips heal and his spinal injuries get better. For the most part, he's been touring the USA on his Gold Wing motorcycle and enjoying his time with his grandchildren.

Thana Brunges ('72, Nursing) graduated from Mendocino College in 1976 with a degree in Liberal Studies, Santa Rosa Junior College in 1978 with a degree in Registered Nursing, and Sonoma State University in 1987 with a BS in Nursing and PHN in Public Health Nursing.

Kate McPike

Business Administration, 1971

Kate McPike, 1971 Business, has lived all over California, Long Island, New Orleans, Chicago, and Houston. Now, she has finally retired to Ahwatukee (Phoenix), Arizona. She started a pet sitting business in 2016 called K8's Pet Care. She loves what she does and loves being her own boss. Prior to retirement she was a district operations manager for Weight Watchers International and ended her career in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. as a strategic planning and training manager for the CA Credit Union League, a trade association for credit unions in California. Happily divorced and happy to be retired with her own business!

Peter Cowper

Business Administration, 1971

Peter Cowper, 1971 Business, has served as a member of the board of directors of the Sequoia Riverlands Trust since 2013. The trust is a regional nonprofit land trust accredited by the Land Trust Alliance, which is dedicated to strengthening California's heartland and the natural and agricultural legacy of the southern Sierra Nevada and San Joaquin Valley.

Kathy McPike

Business Administration, 1971

I'm the Strategic Planning/Training Manager for the CA/NV Credit Union League (a trade association for credit unions in CA and NV). I moved back to CA nine years ago after 12 years in New Orleans. I plan to retire in New Orleans within the next two years.

Business Administration, 1970

Graduated 107- with a BA in Business Education. Earned teaching credential in 1971 at Humboldt. Retired in 2008 from the Chaffey School Dist.(Ontario,Ca) after 36 years as teacher, coach, counselor, and assistant principal. Married Anita in 1974, two children Andrea and Zack. In 2011 with Gary Tuttle(69), Vince Engle(70(, Pete Pedroza(71), and Bill Scobey(72) started the Jim and JoAnne Hunt Scholarship Funds for track and cross country athletes. Wendy Woodward

Obituary: Dr. Wendy L. Woodward RN, PhD, 69, died Sunday at home with her family present after her battle fighting cancer. She was born in Bremerton, Washington, spending nearly all of her adult life in Humboldt County. Wendy was a registered nurse and nursing faculty for Humboldt State University program from 1979 through her retirement as the Chair of the Nursing Program. A celebration of life will be planned in Humboldt County in the near future. Messages, memories, or inquires for Wendy can be sent to jaime.hannans@gmail.com

John Hollister

Economics, 1968

John completed a Master of Social Work (MSW) and then an MBA. He is a father of two daughters. He has worked in social services for seven years, specifically with troubled teens, and for two years as a social worker for individuals with developmental disabilities. Additionally, John has served as a paralegal advocate for ten years, managed programs for another ten years, and spent ten years as a financial and program auditor. Now I am retired. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, rock climbing, hiking, photography, organic gardening, and promoting peace.

Pamela Hartvig Range

Social Work, 1967

Pamela Hartvig Range is a practicing psychotherapist, expressive arts therapist, and artist. After graduating from HSU she went on to get her MSW at California State University Sacramento, an MFA in paint from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California, and a PhD in Expressive Therapy. She is practicing privately in Sacramento, California. Hartvig Range also worked as a medical social worker and performed many types of out patient mental health as well as a lot of clinical supervision. She has shown her oil paintings and prints all over. She did abstract landscapes for 30 years and has switched to the human form.
