ESTIMATED Construction Activities Timeline

Underground trenching and conduit installation for new PG&E service is underway along 16th Street. Neighbors may experience construction noise, heavy equipment and backup alarms, temporary steel plates, and one-lane traffic near the intersection of 16th and L Streets.

Demolition of the existing concrete stairs will involve jackhammers and heavy equipment and is expected to be one of the noisier upcoming construction activities.

Roof sheathing, framing, window sill construction, and roofing activities will continue over the next several months. Neighbors may hear intermittent noise from nail guns, hammers, drills, and other construction equipment. The contractor is also conducting daily magnetic sweeps around the project site to collect stray nails and metal debris.

Saw cutting of concrete and asphalt for underground utilities is currently scheduled for October 19–23 and is expected to generate noticeable noise, particularly for neighbors adjacent to the parking lot.

Construction will continue inside Stewart Building throughout this period, including elevator construction, concrete and masonry work, and temporary structural shoring. Some of these activities may generate intermittent noise; however, the majority of the significant interior saw cutting is now behind us.
