Ernesto Iñiguez,
Hello! My name is Ernesto Iñiguez and I’m a graduate student for the MA Applied English Studies program. I obtained my BA in English from Cal Poly Humboldt in 2021. I’m currently interested in studying the benefits of video games applied in classrooms to help explore themes of literacy.

Kae Dennert-Frederick ,
As a first-year M.A. student at Cal Poly Humboldt, my current research project examines pre-existing barriers in the publishing industry through a queer lens and ways to dismantle them. I write for a younger me who sought out answers about my own identity I couldn’t find, for youth who have asked me questions I didn’t have answers for. This work is for people who have struggled with isolation in their identity due to lack of representation in media, pop culture, conversation spaces, and cultural norms as a whole when it comes to self-publishing vs. industry publication standards.
I chose to return to CPH for my M.A. after graduating from the English B.A. program earlier this year because of the structures around me the faculty have provided. Humboldt is a place that has continued to teach me more broad perspectives, ones that bring my own multicultural lenses into play within the classroom. Humboldt is a place that I can call home and find comfort in the community of the faculty, students, and nature around me!
