Aging well requires commitment to learning and doing. This course uses a workshop approach over four sessions to help you make a health action plan that is thoughtful, practical, and personal. Using holistic health principles, we will explore options to help you choose the most useful physical, chemical, and emotional tools gleaned from research. The classes include an overview to set goals, then three classes to explore the physical, chemical and emotional tools that might be useful for you. Group discussion is encouraged, but not required.

Class #: 44066

Registration is now open for OLLI members. Non-members may register starting Sept. 3.

Jan Dooley

Dr. Jan Dooley, DC, worked as a holistic chiropractor for over 30 years at Humboldt Chiropractic in Arcata, California. She specialized in treating patients with chronic, complicated health problems using multiple, holistic approaches. She earned a doctor of chiropractic degree in 1986 at Palmer-West College of Chiropractic, then continued to study and earned advanced degrees as a certified chiropractic sports practitioner in 1992 and as a chiropractic internist (DABCI) in 1997. She studied extensively to learn as much as possible to help every part of the body -- joints, organs and mind. Her studies included physical health care techniques such as chiropractic manipulation, soft tissue therapies, and sports injury rehabilitation. As a chiropractic internist, her tools included chemical and nutritional testing to help determine which dietary changes or supplements might be helpful. Body and mind are not separate, so she also integrated approaches to better emotional health drawing upon psychological and metaphysical methods. Dr. Jan retired in 2022.
