Institutional Evolution of OLLI & Cal Poly Humboldt
Description
Brown Bag Lunch Online Presentation with Shawna Young, Interim Provost, Cal Poly Humboldt:
Changes have come to Cal Poly and OLLI in 2025/26: New buildings, new programs, new technology, new faculty and new leadership, including a new University President and new Dean of the College of Extended Education and OLLI. We will focus on how these changes will impact opportunities for community engagement with the University and facilitate student success in addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by our technologically and socially evolving and aging society.
Shawna Young is in her 7th year at Cal Poly Humboldt, initially as dean of the College of Professional Studies (CPS), then the dean of the College of Extended Education (CEE). She was recently appointed the interim provost.
Shawna came to Humboldt from another CSU campus – 17 years at Stanislaus State, where she spent her faculty career teaching in kinesiology, teacher education, and the doctoral program in educational leadership. She transitioned into administration while at Stanislaus, with her most recent position there as associate vice president for Academic Affairs.
Shawna loves talking about both colleges – Professional Studies and Extended Education – and is excited to talk about what makes each one unique to the other colleges at the university, what unifies them, how they complement and synergize with each other, and how CPS and CEE specifically can help shape the future of Cal Poly Humboldt.
The presentation will begin promptly at noon.
