Inside Humboldt Bay Fire: A Community Tour and Talk

Fri., March 13, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Time: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Location: In person: Eureka

Cost: FREE to OLLI members

With Brandon Harlander, Humboldt Bay Fire Captain

Ever wonder what it’s really like inside your local fire station? Join Humboldt Bay Fire for a two-hour program that offers a unique look at how firefighters serve our community.

The class begins with an engaging presentation covering the structure of the department -- from fires and hazardous materials response to the training every firefighter completes. Learn what kinds of calls happen most often, how emergency response works, and practical safety tips you can use at home.

Next, enjoy a guided tour of the fire station (includes stairs). Step inside the spaces where firefighters work and train, explore the engines and specialized equipment up close, and watch a demonstration designed to give you a better understanding of the tools and techniques used every day.

Class #: 23934

Registration opens for OLLI members on Feb. 3. Non-members may register starting Feb. 9.
