Q Center

Mission Statement

The LGBTQ+ Center for Inclusive Academic & Career Excellence (The ‘Q’ Center), recently established in 2026 to support the needs and work of our Queer community, exists to support any student who self-identifies as any of the diverse, nuanced, and expanding identities under the Queer umbrella.

The Q Center provides students with a home space where categories aren’t policed and all forms of sexuality and gender expression are supported and valued.  We also provide opt-in academic advising that is relevant to your needs and responsive to your circumstances.  This includes progress to degree support, future career planning, and connection to opportunities such as Research Experience for Undergrads (REUs) and internships.

We are building on decades of activism and support work done by student/volunteer groups such as the Eric Rofes Multicultural Queer Center, the Queer Student Union, and the Gender Diversity Task Force. Our long and multi-cultural history of resistance gives us strength to not only survive, but to thrive despite profound oppression, and to help others do the same. None of us are free until all of us are free!
