Portrait of Alexandria Wilson

Alexandria Wilson

Emphasis: Teaching Sociology

Research interests: The carceral state, political economy, critical theory

Education career goals: I aspire to teach and further my involvement in strategic political organizing work.

Before the program:  I began engaging in political organizing work in 2017 as a member of a small socialist collective in Sacramento, California. I then became involved with the organization Decarcerate Sacramento, which came together in an attempt to prevent a proposed expansion of the local jail. This fight is ongoing. Additionally, I have engaged in housing justice organizing and mutual aid work alongside the Sacramento National Lawyers Guild Ticket Defense Clinic, which provides free legal defense to unhoused community members who have received citations related to their housing status. I received a Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology from UC Davis in 2023.
