Distinguished Faculty Award Nominations Are Open
On behalf of the Cal Poly Humboldt University Senate, the Faculty Awards Committee is pleased to announce the solicitation of nominations for the following faculty awards:
Excellence in Teaching Award – Lecturer
Excellence in Teaching Award – Tenure-line faculty
Outstanding Service Award
Outstanding Professor Award
Scholar of the Year
You may nominate eligible faculty by submitting a letter of nomination summarizing the nominee’s outstanding qualities along with the required supporting evidence provided by the nominee, as detailed at this link: Nomination Guidelines. Nominees must meet the eligibility criteria specified for the award for which they are nominated. Because putting together an effective nomination dossier places a certain burden on the nominee, please be sure to notify the nominee well in advance of the deadline. If possible, nominators should share the responsibility of gathering letters from students, colleagues, etc. in support of the nomination. Faculty may also self-nominate.
Submit the letter of nomination and supporting evidence electronically via email to senate@humboldt.edu by Friday, January 23, 2026. If you need assistance submitting your nomination or if you have any questions about the process, please contact the University Senate office by email at senate@humboldt.edu.

85 students with tribal affiliations = 49 % increase in number of Native students from 2024; 431% increase in the number of Native students served over the seven year period.
61% service of 1st generation students.
18% increase in the number of graduates.
Thank you to Dr. Nievita Bueno Watts and all of the COMPASS staff including Lonyx Landry, Amir Malikyar, Nanette Durbin, Brian Kyte, Melissa Downs, and Dr. Rachel Torres.
Have a terrific rest of your week.
Sincerely,
Jenn Capps
