Povheng (Heng) Yam
ADPI-MENA Center Coordinator
Povheng (Heng) Yam completed his MA in Academic Research Psychology and BA in Psychology (summa cum laude) at Cal Poly Humboldt in 2025. He is originally from Cambodia and has been living in Humboldt County for over seven years. Beyond academics, Heng is passionate about advocating for the Asian descent community. For instance. While he was attending College of the Redwoods in 2021, he co-founded the Cambodian Student Association in the USA (CSAUSA), supporting over 3,600 Cambodian students navigating higher education and immigration policies in the US. At Cal Poly Humboldt, He spent three years, served as a Researcher and Data Analyst for the Asian, Desi, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, and North African (ADPI-MENA) Center, evaluating and improving the center's program and structure. As the first and current coordinator of the ADPI-MENA center, he is committed to uplifting underrepresented communities and to cultivating an environment where diversity and excellence thrive together, impacting our society.
